爆発的なヒットとなった2004年のデビューアルバム『フランツ・フェルディナンド』（Franz Ferdinand）からの1stシングル。2002年にスコットランド・グラスゴーで結成されたロックバンド。2000年代前半のガレージロック・リヴァイヴァル期に大きな成功を収めたバンドのひとつで、聴衆を盛り上げることにのみ全力を注いでいるかのような、ひたすらキャッチーかつ踊れるロックンロールが持ち味。それまでは60年代～70年代のもっさりしたロックばかり聞いていたから、初めて彼らのファーストを聞いたときの衝撃はすごかった。…が、飽きるのも早かった。もとよりノリと勢い重視の音楽性である。たとえていうなら食べ出したらとまらなくなる最高のスナック菓子みたいなものか。どうせこいつらも華麗なる一発屋で終わるんだろ？と思ったが、サードくらいまではけっこうよかった。「ダーツ・オブ・プレジャー」は妖しくて、スケベで、最後は「ィッシュ」で韻を踏みたいだけだろな謎のドイツ語で終わる愛すべきおバカソング。これで平常運転なんだからどうかしてるぜ。
