4枚目のアルバム『ファー』（Far, 2009）に収録（自主制作盤を含めれば6作目）。レジーナ・スペクター（1980-）は出身はロシアだが、アメリカに拠点をおいて活動しているシンガーソングライター。日本では「アス」（"Us"）が映画『（500）日のサマー』（(500) Days of Summer, 2009）の主題歌に使われているということで有名な人だろう（あくまで洋楽ファンのあいだでは、ということだが）。僕が彼女にはまるきっかけになったのは前作『ビギン・トゥ・ホープ』（Begin to Hope, 2006）だが、それ以降も着実にキャリアを築いているようだ。われわれのようなノン・ネイティヴにとってはレジーナの英語は聞き取りやすくて助かる。しかし、この人の作るポップソングはキッチュで、毒気があって、そしてそこらへんを自由に駆け回る子どもみたいに無邪気である。子どもの歌みたいなノリなのでなんだか楽しげに聞こえるが、歌詞の内容はごらんのとおり相当にえぐい。
