【歌詞対訳】”World Citizen (I Won’t Be Disappointed)” / David Sylvian

デヴィッド・シルヴィアンと坂本龍一のコラボ曲（2003）。シルヴィアンのアルバムはすぐに品切れになってしまうわけだけど、コラボレーション曲を集めた2010年のコンピレーション盤『スリープウォーカーズ』（Sleepwalkers）が昨年グレンランド・レコーズからリイシューされて、その5曲目に収録されているので割りと簡単に聴くことができる（もとは坂本龍一のアルバム『キャズム』（CHASM, 2004）で発表されたのだが、こちらは2023年1月現在CD・アナログレコードともに品切れ状態）。ややこしいことに“World Citizen”という曲もあって、これは“World Citizen (I Won’t Be Disappointed)”とは別物。旧盤には収録されていないが、Sleepwalkersの2022年版にはボーナストラック数曲とともにこちらも収録されていて、まとまった形で聴けるようになった。

come undone「だめになる、滅びる」（undoneはdestroyedと同じような意味）

tail back「（交通が）渋滞する」

*yellow bird(s) 「黄色の羽の鳥」：「炭坑のカナリア」（canary in the coalmine)という表現があるが、かつて炭坑で有毒ガスが漏れていることを察知するといち早く鳴きやむことから籠に入れたカナリアが検知用に使われていた。
