【歌詞対訳】”Dancing in the Street” / Martha & The Vandellas
サード・アルバム『ダンス・パーティ』（Dance Party, 1965）に収録。マーサ＆ザ・ヴァンデラスはマーサ・リーヴズを中心に1957年にミシガン州デトロイトで結成されたガールズ・グループ。この曲はじつに多くのカバーバージョンがあるが、その中でも特に有名なのは1985年のデヴィッド・ボウイとミック・ジャガーによるデュエットじゃないかな。僕がこの曲を初めて聴いたのもこのカバーを通してだった。歌詞のなかに"Can’t forget the Motor City"とあるのはもちろんモータウン・レーベルがそこにあるから。以前はスティーヴィー・ワンダーやマーヴィン・ゲイ、ジャクソン５のレーベルくらいのイメージしかなかったが、最近はこのへんのサウンドをようやく真面目に聴く気になってきた。
