4thアルバム『スクリーン・ヴァイオレンス』（Screen Violence, 2021）からの一曲。ポーティスヘッドに続き、少しヒヤッとする曲ということで、再びチャーチズを。作品的にはコンパクトにまとまっているけれど、ロバート・スミスをフィーチャーした"How Not to Drown"があったりと地味に充実している。Screen Violenceは当初バンド名の候補になっていた言葉だそうだが、それはやがて画面による暴力、画面越しの暴力というコンセプトにつながっていった。ロシアによるウクライナ侵略戦争もそうだが、僕たちは肉眼で凄惨な暴力を目にするより、画面を通して目にすることのほうが圧倒的に多い時代に生きている。"Violent Delights"はそんなコンセプトで作られたアルバムを象徴するような一曲だ。このあとに"How Not to Drown"が続くという流れもよく考えられている。
